Teresa Tunnadine

I became Executive Headteacher at The Compton in September 2016 with responsibility for establishing a Compton secondary free school in Barnet and developing The Compton as a Multi Academy Trust. Previously I was Headteacher at The Compton between 1999 and 2016 having joined The Compton in 1992 as Deputy Headteacher when the school first opened.

I am currently a member of the Regional School Commissioner’s Headteacher Board, providing advice on academies and free schools in North West London and South Central England. I am also Chair of The Department for Education’s Secondary Headteachers’  Reference Group and the Teaching School Coordinator for the 110 London teaching schools working on behalf of the National College. I was awarded an honorary doctorate by Middlesex University and also a CBE in the birthday honours both 2013 for services to education nationally. 
 

Qualifications include:

  • BSc (Hons) Geography from London School of Economics
  • PGCE from London University
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Cambridge University
  • National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH)
  • National leader of Education providing support for schools within London and nationally since 2006

I am Senior Associate Headteacher at The Compton School.  I joined the Governing Body in 2003 as a Staff Governor and currently serve as a Community Governor. I am a member of the Finance Committee.

I have been Chair of the Governing Body since October 2008.  My children were both students at The Compton School and I have been a member of the Governing Body since December 2005; initially as a Parent governor when my son was in Year 7 and more recently as a Community governor. I was designated a National Leader of Governance in January 2014.  In 2010 I was runner up in the Governor of the Year Award for London and the South East. I am a member of the Finance Committee, convene the Strategic Committee and a member of the Appraisal Management Group.
 
My background: After studying modern languages at university, I qualified as a chartered accountant at one of the Big4 accountancy firms.  For the last 15 years or so I have worked in mergers & acquisitions for a global communications company, leading on the execution of transactions both in the UK and internationally.

I joined the Governing Body in the autumn of 2011 as a Community Governor.  I am currently chair of the Finance Committee, member of the Strategic Committee, a member of the Strategic Committee and a member of the Appraisal Management Group. I have two daughters currently studying at The Compton School.

My background: Group Head of Public Affairs at Standard Life plc since 2009, with responsibilities covering engagement with policy makers and public policy across the UK and the EU. Prior to that responsible for EU Public Policy at the Royal Bank of Scotland, and before that held a variety of strategy and commercial roles at RBS and NatWest in retail and corporate banking. I am also a school governor at Queenswell Junior School and a Board Trustee for the Whitehall and Industry Group. I am a graduate of the London School of Economics.

I was elected as a Parent Governor in December 2013.  I am a member of the Finance Committee.  My 3 children are all currently studying at The Compton School. 

My background: After studying Geography and Anthropology at Cambridge University, I qualified as a chartered accountant at one of the Big 4 accountancy firms, before working in the telecoms and retail industries for over 10 years.  For the last 7 years I have worked in senior finance and operations roles for a large UK based charity delivering programmes for young people to develop skills and find employment or training.

I joined the Governing Body in 2011 as a Community Governor. I Chair the Behaviour & Safety Committee, a member of the Strategic Committee and the Governor responsible for Pupil Premium.
 
My background: I have been a solicitor since 1997, the first 7 years of which was working in large law firms in the City and now as an in-house litigation solicitor at the BBC.

I joined The Compton School as a Local Community governor in December 2011 after moving to the area. I am currently the Vice-chair of the Finance Committee, a member of the Strategic Committee and a member of the Appraisal Management Group.

My background: After being awarded a Masters in Financial Management in Belgium, I qualified as a chartered accountant at one of the Big 4 accountancy firms in corporate finance department.  Since 2010 I have been focusing on mergers and acquisitions in the hospitality and retail sectors.

I was appointed as a Parent Governor in 2005 when my daughter was in year 7. I now hold the post of Vice Chair of Governors. I am a member of the Teaching & Learning Committee and the Strategic Committee

My Background: After studying a degree in Graphic Design at the Academy of Art in San Francisco I worked as a professional designer for many years. I later chose a career in teaching and I currently teach design, art and drama in a specialist school.

I joined the Governing Body in the summer term of 2014, as a Community Governor. I am Vice Chair for the Behaviour & Safety Committee.

My background: I graduated from University of Leeds with a degree in Law LLB and currently work as a senior lawyer for the BBC.

 
Amy Williams

I joined the governing body in September 2015 as a community governor and sit as a member of the Teaching and Learning Committee.

My Background: I graduated from the London School of Economics (LSE) with a degree in politics and am a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). I specialise in marketing and communications and have held roles within the not-for-profit, private and public sectors. I currently work as a senior manager within the NHS.

I was elected as a Parent Governor in December 2013. I am a member of the Behaviour and Safety Committee.  My middle son graduated from The Compton School in July 2013 and my daughter joined in 2011.

My background: I read Chemistry at University and worked in scientific publishing for 25 years leading teams leading management teams in Europe and North America. I now work for the Institution of Civil Engineers responsible for their commercial and knowledge businesses. I am a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and hold the Chartered Director qualification. I love music of all kinds and have recently returned to playing cricket when our summer weather permits.

I am a Year Manager at The Compton School and work within the Support and Intervention Team.  My son gained his GCSEs at The Compton School in 2011 and I have two daughters currently studying here.

My daughter joined The Compton School in 2014.  I currently work as Associate Dean in the Faculty of Health and Social Sciences at the University of Bedfordshire.  I am a nurse and remain on the register, have a Masters in Social Science Research Methods and an Education Doctorate.

My daughter gained her GCSEs at The Compton School in 2014 and my son is currently studying here.  I have worked within the education system for the past 30 years and currently work as a teacher and Inclusion Manager in a local school.

I joined the Governing Body in the Autumn term of 2014, as a Staff Governor. I am a member of the Behaviour & Safety Committee. I am Deputy Headteacher, working within the Support and Intervention Team and teacher Science.

Mr Owen Simkins

I have been a Staff Governor since September 2010.  I am a member of the Teaching & Learning Committee. I am a senior teacher in the Science Department. I joined the school in July 2007 as an NQT and was seconded to the Senior Leadership Team in September 2013.  I am responsible for e-learning within the school.

Qualifications include:

  • BSc (Hons) Geology from University of Birmingham
  • Masters in Tectonics from Royal Holloway College, University of London
  • PGCE from Bath Spa University

Clerk to the Governors:

I started at the Compton in July 2015 as the Sixth Form Administrator and Outreach Administrator. In November 2016 I started in the role as Year 13 Pastoral Leader. I have been the Clerk to the Governors since October 2015.
 
Qualifications include:

  •  BA Hons degree in Theatre and Professional Practice from the University of Bedfordshire
