Statement:Currently I am head of Geography at Wren Academy, a position I have held since 2012. As part of this I have been involved in Building Learning Power at my school, which required me to showcase my teaching in a lesson which was watched by many external staff. In addition, I have led staff insets on questioning. As part of my role, I have been developing the role of student voice in my department, using students to improve teaching and learning across the department. I am currently completing the National College qualification NPQML where my focus is on developing a successful geography department. In my current position, I have mentored other teachers, coaching them to achieve outstanding in their observations. Coaching in geography teaching has also been a part of my role mentoring PGCE and NQT teachers in geography. As an enthusiastic subject specialist, I have attended numerous geography conferences to enhance my knowledge and understanding of the current position of geography in the curriculum. Prior to this I was Gifted and Talented coordinator where I had to set up the programme where none existed. In my spare time, I volunteer to train and mentor teachers in non secular environment, which I have been doing since 2004.
