Minimum academic entry requirements

Successful candidates will need to meet the entry requirements of both the individual placement school and the IOE. All candidates will need GCSE A*-C in Mathematics and English (or equivalent). In addition primary trainees will need a GCSE A*-C in Science. Candidates need to meet these requirements by the time the course starts.

You should be a graduate, preferably with a 1st or a 2:1, though we are willing to consider applicants who have a 2:2 who can demonstrate a real aptitude for teaching. You should have a degree in which the majority of the content is linked to the subject you wish to teach. Applicants with relevant industrial or commercial experience are very welcome to apply.

The Compton School is the lead school in the partnership and will coordinate the recruitment process. The school offering the main placement will typically hold the interview. Teachers from the main placement school will be centrally involved in the interview process. In addition, our university partner, the Institute of Education, will review all applications and may also join us on interview days.

Please ensure you indicate which host school you would like to be placed at on your UCAS application.
