The Compton School, Finchley
The Compton School, Finchley was opened as a new school in 1992 with current Headteacher, Teresa Tunnadine, CBE as one of the Senior Leadership Team. The school has grown in size from 150 students to nearly 1300 and has developed an outstanding national reputation for excellence in teaching and learning. The Compton is now one of the country’s very best state schools.
Led by Teresa Tunnadine, who has received national recognition for her role in education, the senior leadership team at the Compton School have a substancial track record over many years in translating strategic vision into outstanding student achievement. With three successive outstanding OFSTED inspections, The Compton has consistently delivered the very highest standards in terms of student attainment and progress. Our results in 2014 and 2015 placed us in the top 1% of schools for the amount of progress students made from entering the school in Year 7 to completing their GCSEs in Year 11.
Parent demand for places at The Compton school is extremely high with 1056 parents in 2015 applying for one of the 210 places in Year 7. Many parents in the borough who apply to The Compton find they live too far away for their children to gain a place. The new Compton free school will provide more parents with the opportunity for their child to receive an outstanding education.
