Why Train With Us
The Compton-Barnet Teaching School Alliance is working alongside UCL Institute of Education Institute to offer teacher training through the 'School Direct' scheme. This provides a unique school based learning opportunity in partnership with the UCL IOE to develop fantastic teachers. The IOE's central location in Bloomsbury means that you are in the heart of London. The London Underground station Russell Square is minutes from the main building and is in easy commuting distance from our alliance of schools. The Compton-Barnet Teaching Alliance has worked with the IOE for many years and has a strong working relationship that has the success and wellbeing of our trainees at the forefront of what we do.
Our partnership is led by The Compton School and comprises of a mixture of Primary, Secondary and a Special school. This gives our trainees the widest opportunity to train in a variety of settings. Our alliance is one of the largest in the country encompassing twenty schools, two universities and the local authority. The Compton School is an 'Outstanding' school and its work as a Teaching School is cutting edge, leading to many opportunities for our alliance.
Students across the partnership are happy, friendly and well behaved. Staff and students enjoy working together and the overwhelming majority of students across our partnership schools consistently outperform their national peers and make significant progress.
Our alliance offers quality mentoring and outstanding Continued Professional Development (CPD). Our programmes of CPD enable our trainees to work together and make huge progress as the training is specific and bespoke for all involved.
Employment is at the heart of what we do and the alliance will look to employ the School Direct trainees. In addition, a training programme based in London offers a wide variety of employment opportunities for all trainees.
