All School Direct (salaried) trainees are employed by their ‘base school’ on a one year contract, therefore under contract with the school and IOE over the academic year. In most cases schools will look to employ their trainee teacher at the end of the training year where possible.

Trainees will be paid as an unqualified teacher and this salary is around £19,000. In shortage subjects uplifts are available and trainees can be paid up to £30,000. Please see the web-link below showing the funding for this academic year.
