The Compton School celebrates best ever results!
Posted on: 14/08/2025Students and staff at The Compton School are celebrating after collecting their A Level and BTEC grades, the best in the school’s history. The school is delighted with the academic outcomes of this year’s cohort. The Sixth-Form is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year.
The school achieved a 99% pass rate in both A Level and vocational subjects, with over half of students achieving A*-B grades, exceeding all predicted targets. Across Year 13, students saw success in all areas of the curriculum, with particularly strong outcomes in Mathematics, the Sciences, Humanities and the Arts.
The whole school is now celebrating these achievements, with the majority of students securing places at their chosen universities and in highly skilled employment, as they take their next steps in education or careers.
Emily Walker-Nolan, Assistant Headteacher, had the privilege of talking to some of the top achieving students on the day.
A Level Results Day 2025 felt optimistic and positive with students eagerly (and nervously) opening their white envelopes; there were lots of smiles when students saw that their hard work had paid off and an atmosphere of relief and excitement filled the concourse.
Top Achieving Boys: Misha (A*A*A) and Ben (A*A*BB)
How do you feel today?
Misha: I feel amazing! I was really nervous beforehand, but I’m so pleased with my results. I really needed the A* in Further Maths to be able to go to my first-choice university – I’m just relieved I’ve got it!
Ben: I feel good – it was quite stressful at the end because I was juggling the 4 A Levels, but I am really happy with the results!
What are your future plans?
Misha: I am heading to the University of Warwick to study Mathematics and Statistics.
Ben: I am still undecided – I know I want to study Mathematics but I’m thinking about re-applying for LSE because my results are good.
What advice would you give to students in Year 11/12 about getting through the A Level years?
Ben: You need to treat every day as if the exam is happening the next day – I know it sounds silly, but it honestly made such a difference to me. Then, you are prepared and revising all the time. You just need to be in that state of alert – it really gives you the motivation to work hard.
Misha: Make sure that you select subjects that interest and excite you – then you know you will work hard in them. It’s such a cliché but just revise early – you set yourself up for success that way. And try to balance all your subjects equally.
What is the best thing about The Compton Sixth Form?
Ben: Definitely the teachers. If I think about my Accounting and Finance lessons, I would ask Mr Spitz probably 55 questions in an hour and he would answer all of them. Every one. Then, if I still didn’t get it, he would explain it to me again until I did. He was the reason I got that A*.
Misha: The support here – not just the teachers – it’s the supportive environment that makes a difference overall, I think. At The Compton School you get one-to-ones with your teachers and it’s so easy to seek assistance and advice from them.
Top Achieving Girls: Cristina (A*AB) and Rozeta (A*BB)
How do you feel today?
Cristina: I am really happy – just over the moon, really! I was a little nervous before but not for Art – I knew that I had worked really hard in the coursework element and had done well.
Rozeta: I am so proud! We worked so hard for the A*s in Art! We both did it!
What are your future plans?
Cristina: I am going to the University of Manchester to study Fashion Marketing. It’s a great course – you get to understand the science and technology behind the fabrics you market and in the first year, you get to study all aspects of Fashion: marketing, design and creativity. You then get to specialise in the second year.
Rozeta: I am going to Kingston University to study Interior Design – I would like to start my own business one day or perhaps be an interior designer.
What advice would you give to students in Year 11/12 about getting through the A Level years?
Rozeta: Act on the feedback you are given from your teachers. Lots of people take feedback really personally – for me, I just listened and made sure I followed what they said to do, and it made a huge difference to my project outcomes. You might think what you want to ask is silly or that they won’t have time to help you, but , for example, the Art Department here, they always took what I said seriously, made time to help me think about what to do next and really cared about what I said. It’s also never too late to make positive changes to your work – you can improve on all your grades in just a few weeks if you really put some hard work in!
Cristina: Keep on top of the work, but not to a point where you are too stressed. Start revising early and don’t put it off – I know it’s probably mentioned every single year but it’s what works!
What is the best thing about The Compton Sixth Form?
Cristina: Anything is possible here, if you commit to it. You really can get involved in anything – from productions to speaking at Open Evening – there is no limits on what you can do. I feel that I have been really developed as a person here. My school knows me really well but also brought out the best in me. The teachers are also amazing here – not just your classroom teachers but the other teachers you meet in the day.
Rozeta: It’s the community – it’s a real community feeling. Also, my teachers who listened and believed in me.
Top achieving vocational students:
Scarlett (Distinction*, Distinction*, Distinction*)
Chiara (Distinction*, Distinction, A)
Joanna (Distinction*, Distinction, A*)
How do you feel today?
Joanna: So happy! I was so nervous before – I was worried about what I would do if I didn’t get my university place – we are going to the same university, and it would be great to go together!
Chiara: I am so happy – I felt sick this morning but am just relieved today.
Scarlett: I am so surprised – I honestly can’t believe it! I’m really happy! I haven’t told my parents yet but I think they’re going to be really proud.
What are your future plans?
Chiara: I am going to City University to study Law. I would like to be a solicitor one day, perhaps specialising in family law or crime.
Joanna: I’m going there too! I am also going to study Law and am interested in becoming a lawyer in the future.
Scarlett: I am already working – I have been offered an apprenticeship wit Aventum, focused on Speciality Insurance. It’s a fast-track way to become a broker.
What advice would you give to students in Year 11/12 about getting through the A Level years?
Chiara: For me, I chose a BTEC alongside an A Level because it’s the way I like to work – you need to think really carefully about the subjects that you choose to make sure you can manage the workload. Knowing that I had already completed my coursework was really reassuring for me – it meant that I could fully concentrate on my A Level which is why I think I got an A! You also need to be an effective time manager and work independently when studying BTEC qualifications – you get lots of support from your teacher but really the hard work is on you!
Joanna: It was the same for me – I saw lots of my friends really struggle with deadlines, workload and just managing lots of exams. I feel that taking a combination of BTEC and A Level would be really beneficial for lots of students.
Scarlett: Stick to deadlines – don’t allow yourself to get behind on your coursework. Always ask for help when you need it.
What is the best thing about The Compton Sixth Form?
Chiara: It’s a really friendly and welcoming place – not just the staff but also the students.
Joanna: The environment here – it’s a community. You get so much support here – there are always someone you can go to. The teachers believe in you here and really push you to achieve your best.
Scarlett: The staff here are so supportive.
